(d) Chordae tendinae are thread like bands of fibrous tissue which attach on one end to the edges of the tricuspid and mitral valves of the heart and on the other end to the papillary muscles, that serve to anchor the valves. Tricuspid valve is the valve in the heart between the right atrium and right ventricle. The valve opens to allow blood to flow from atrium into the ventricle. Thus if tricuspid valve is partially non-functional, then the flow of blood into the pulmonary artery will be reduced.
