Hints & Solutions
(a) Introduction of the African catfish Clarias gariepimus for aquaculture purposes has become a threat to indigenous catfishes in our rivers. Clarias gariepinus is an alien species for the communities in Yamuna. An invasive species is a non-native species that spreads from the point of introduction and becomes abundant. The invasive species label attaches only to populations of species whose impact upon introduction has altered their new environment.
