Ray Optics Question 11
Question 11 - 2024 (31 Jan Shift 2)
Light from a point source in air falls on a convex curved surface of radius $20 \mathrm{~cm}$ and refractive index 1.5 . If the source is located at $100 \mathrm{~cm}$ from the convex surface, the image will be formed at $\mathrm{cm}$ from the object.
Show Answer
Answer: (200)
Solution:
$\frac{\mu_{2}}{\mathrm{v}}-\frac{\mu_{1}}{\mathrm{u}}=\frac{\mu_{2}-\mu_{1}}{\mathrm{R}}$
$\frac{1.5}{\mathrm{v}}-\frac{1}{-100}=\frac{1.5-1}{20}$
$\mathrm{v}=100 \mathrm{~cm}$
Distance from object
$=100+100$
$=200 \mathrm{~cm}$
