Solutions Question 1

Question 1 - 2024 (01 Feb Shift 1)

We have three aqueous solutions of $\mathrm{NaCl}$ labelled as ’ $A$ ‘, ’ $^{\prime} B^{\prime}$ and ’ $C$ ’ with concentration $0.1 \mathrm{M}$, $0.01 \mathrm{M} ~& ~0.001 \mathrm{M}$, respectively. The value of van $\mathrm{t}^{\prime}$ Haft factor (i) for these solutions will be in the order.

(1) $i_{A}<i_{B}<i_{C}$

(2) $i_{A}<i_{C}<i_{B}$

(3) $i_{A}=i_{B}=i_{C}$

(4) $i_{A}>i_{B}>i_{C}$

Show Answer

Answer (1)

Solution

Salt Values of i (for different conc. of a Salt)
$0.1 \mathrm{M}$ $0.01 \mathrm{M}$ $0.001 \mathrm{M}$
$\mathrm{NaCl}$ 1.87 1.94 1.94

1 approach 2 as the solution become very dilute.
