Oscillations Question 4

Question 4 - 25 January - Shift 2

A particle executes simple harmonic motion between $x=-A$ and $x=+A$. If time taken by particle to go from $x=0$ to $\frac{A}{2}$ is $2 s$; then time taken by particle in going from $x=\frac{A}{2}$ to $A$ is :

(1) $3 s$

(2) $2 s$

(3) $1.5 s$

(4) $4 s$

Show Answer

Answer: (4)

Solution:

Formula: Angular Frequency

Let time from 0 to $A / 2$ is $t_1$

$\&$ from $A / 2$ to $A$ is $t_2$

then $\omega t_1=\pi / 6$

$\omega t_2=\pi / 3$ $\frac{t_1}{t_2}=\frac{1}{2}$ $t_2=2 t_1=2 \times 2=4 sec$
