Alternating Current Question 7
Question 7 - 29 January - Shift 2
For the given figures, choose the correct options:
(a)
(b) $220 V, 50 Hz$
(1) The rms current in circuit (b) can never be larger than that in (a)
(2) The rms current in figure (a) is always equal to that in figure (b)
(3) The rms current in circuit (b) can be larger than that in (a)
(4) At resonance, current in (b) is less than that in (a)
Show Answer
Answer: (1)
Solution:
Formula: Root Mean Square Value
$\mathrm{I}_{\mathrm{rms}}=\frac{220}{220}=5.5 \mathrm{~A}$
$220 \mathrm{~V} 50 \mathrm{~Hz}$
$X_{L}$ is not equal to $X_{C}$. So rms current in (b) can never be larger than (a).
