The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released a crucial update regarding the exam schedule for the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) recruitment process. Aspiring candidates who have registered for the 18,799 vacancies must take note of the tentative dates announced for the various stages of the selection process.
RRB ALP CBT 1 Exam Schedule
The Computer-Based Test (CBT) 1 exam is slated to take place between July and August 2024. This is the first stage of the recruitment process, and candidates must begin preparing for it. The exact dates will be updated in the table below as soon as they are announced.

RRB ALP 2024 Exam Pattern
The RRB ALP 2024 exam will consist of four stages: CBT Stage-1, CBT Stage-2 (Part A and Part B), CBAT (Computer-Based Aptitude Test), and Document Verification. Here’s a breakdown of each stage:
CBT 1 Exam
The CBT 1 exam will comprise 75 questions for 75 marks, covering Mathematics, Mental Ability, General Science, and General Awareness. The total time allotted for this exam is 60 minutes.

CBT 2 Exam
The CBT 2 exam will consist of two parts: Part A and Part B. Part A will have 100 questions, covering Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, Basic Science, and Engineering. The time duration for Part A is 90 minutes. Part B will have 75 questions, covering Relevant Discipline/Trade, and will be solved in 60 minutes. Part B is qualifying only, while Part A marks will decide the qualification to the next stages of the selection process and will also be counted in the final selection.

CBAT Exam
Candidates equal to 8 times the ALP vacancies for each category will be shortlisted for the CBAT round based on their marks in Part A of the CBT 2 exam. The CBAT round will be conducted in English and Hindi, with no negative marking. The marks for the final selection will be calculated in the ratio of 70:30, where 70% of marks will be calculated from Part A of the CBT 2 exam and 30% from the CBAT exam.

- Merit List: Only CBAT-passing candidates are considered for the RRB ALP merit list
RRB ALP 2024: Qualifying Marks
To qualify for the exam, candidates must score the minimum qualifying marks fixed by the exam authority. In the CBAT exam, candidates must score a minimum of 42 marks to clear the exam. The minimum pass percentage for the CBT 1 and CBT 2 Exam is as follows:
