NEET-UG Scam: Key Accused Arrested for Stealing Exam Paper from NTA Trunk in Jharkhand

In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing NEET-UG scam, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two individuals, including a key accused, for their alleged involvement in the scandal. The key accused, Pankaj Kumar alias Aditya, is a 30-year-old engineer from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. According to officials, Kumar was arrested from Patna, while his accomplice, Raju Singh, was apprehended from Hazaribagh.

Kumar, who is believed to have stolen the NEET-UG paper from a National Testing Agency (NTA) trunk in Hazaribagh, is accused of passing the stolen paper to other gang members. Singh, on the other hand, allegedly helped Kumar in the theft and facilitated the distribution of the paper to other candidates.

This latest development brings the total number of accused arrested in connection with the NEET-UG scam to 14. The CBI has been investigating the alleged irregularities in the medical entrance exam and has registered FIRs in various states, including Bihar, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra. The FIRs pertain to paper leaks, impersonation of candidates, and cheating.

In a related development, the Patna High Court last week granted the CBI custody of 13 suspects arrested by the Bihar Police in connection with the case. The agency had sought the custody of these suspects, who were subsequently sent to judicial custody after a brief period of police remand.

The CBI’s own FIR, which was registered on a reference from the Union education ministry, pertains to a comprehensive investigation into the alleged irregularities in the examination. The agency has been working tirelessly to unravel the web of corruption and ensure that those responsible for the scam are brought to justice.

The NEET-UG scam has been making headlines in recent months, with allegations of paper leaks, impersonation, and cheating plaguing the medical entrance exam. The CBI’s efforts to crack down on the scam have been ongoing, and these latest arrests are a significant step forward in the investigation.
