NEET UG Counselling 2024: Medical Colleges Urged to Enter Seat Matrix by July 20

As the Supreme Court prepares to hear the NEET UG re-exam case on July 18, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued a notice to medical colleges to enter their seat matrix on its official website, mcc.nic.in, by July 20. This move comes as the MCC gears up to conduct the NEET UG counselling 2024 in four rounds, starting from the third week of July.

According to the notice, medical institutes participating in the counselling process can upload their seat lists on the portal until July 20. The MCC has emphasized the importance of timely completion of the seat contribution process, urging colleges to start entering their seats as soon as possible. The user ID and password for entering seats remain the same as in previous years, and colleges can use the ‘FORGOT PASSWORD’ option to reset their password if needed.

For any technical assistance, colleges can reach out to the MCC’s helpdesk on phone numbers 011-69227413, 69227416, 69227419, and 69227423 between 10 am and 6 pm.

The MCC’s notice comes as a total of 23 lakh medical aspirants await the Supreme Court’s judgment on retest and cancellation. The Union government had earlier notified the apex court that the NEET UG counselling would begin in the third week of July. India has a total of 1,08,940 MBBS seats, with Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra government medical colleges offering the highest number of seats, at 5,275 and 5,125 respectively.

The Supreme Court has listed the NEET UG 2024 re-exam hearing on July 18, with a bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice JB Pardiwala directing that fresh pleas and those pending in high courts be transferred to the apex court as they relate to the same issue. The hearing is expected to have a significant impact on the counselling process, and medical aspirants are eagerly awaiting the outcome.

With the counselling process set to begin soon, medical colleges must act quickly to enter their seat matrix and ensure a smooth process for students. The MCC’s notice serves as a reminder of the importance of timely action, as the clock ticks down to the July 20 deadline.
