Breaking News: CBI Arrests Two Suspects in NEET-UG Exam Paper Leak, Uncovering Nationwide Conspiracy

In a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the NEET-UG exam paper leak, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two men in Patna, including a civil engineer who allegedly tampered with sealed question paper boxes at the National Testing Agency (NTA) centre in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag. The arrests could lead to the origin of the conspiracy and the extent of the nationwide network involved in the paper leak, according to sources.

Pankaj Kumar, a 2017 civil engineering graduate from NIT-Jamshedpur, has been accused of stealing a sealed question paper box from an aluminium trunk sent by NTA to Hazaribag after tampering with it. His accomplice, Rajkumar Singh, a guest house owner in Hazaribag, allegedly assisted Aditya in stealing and passing the papers to exam mafias, sources said.

The CBI’s investigation began after it was discovered that nine sets of question papers were dispatched from SBI Hazaribag to various exam centres, but the papers received by Oasis School had tampered seals, leading to the discovery of the school’s involvement in the paper leak. The school’s principal and vice principal, who were earlier arrested, mentioned Rajkumar’s guest house during questioning, linking them to the paper leak conspiracy.

Sources revealed that some examinees were allegedly kept at Rajkumar’s guest house, where they were given the leaked questions and answers to memorize a day before the exam. The CBI had earlier arrested Ehsanul Haque, the sacked principal of Oasis School, vice principal M Imtiaz Alam, and Hazaribag journalist Jamaluddin, who allegedly provided Rajkumar’s name during his interrogation.

The investigation also led to the discovery of a partially-burnt question paper found at a play school in Patna’s Khemnichak area, which served as a safe house for medical aspirants. The CBI’s arrests could shed light on the extent of the conspiracy and the network involved in the paper leak, which has been a major concern for the education sector.

NIT Jamshedpur spokesperson Sunil Bhagat said it is difficult to comment on the conduct of Aditya during his college days, stating that the college would need to visit the record book to know about his performance in the semester exams. The arrests have sent shockwaves through the education community, with many questioning the integrity of the examination process.

The CBI’s investigation is ongoing, and it remains to be seen what other revelations will come to light as the probe unfolds.
