The count of 100 percentilers has increased by 13 candidates since 2023, with a total of 56 students achieving a perfect NTA score in Paper 1 (BE/BTech). Among them, two are girls: Sanvi Jain from Karnataka and Shayna Sinha from Delhi. The remaining 54 are male candidates.

The Session 2 of the JEE (Main) Examination saw a registration count of 1,179,569 candidates, with 1,067,959 candidates actually appearing for the exam. When considering both the January and April sessions of the JEE (Main) 2024 Examination, the total number of unique candidates registered amounts to 1,476,557. Similarly, the total number of unique candidates who appeared in both sessions totals 1,415,110.

There is no re-checking option available for JEE Mains Session 2 Result 2024. The National Testing Agency (NTA) considers their evaluation of the exam to be final.

A total of 43 students scored the highest possible score in the JEE in 2023 (across both sessions). Ridhi Kamlesh Kumar Maheshwari, from Karnataka, was the only female candidate to achieve this feat.

The JEE Main final merit list, used for admissions to engineering programs, is prepared based on the following steps:

  1. NTA normalises the raw marks from both sessions (January and April) to account for any difficulty level variations between them.
  2. For candidates who appeared in both JEE Main sessions, the best NTA score from either session is considered for the final rank list.
  3. Ranks are assigned based on the normalised NTA scores in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (Paper-1) for B.E./B.Tech programs.
  4. Separate merit lists are prepared for Paper-1 (B.E./B.Tech) and Paper-2 (B.Arch & B.Planning) programs.

To be eligible for JEE Advanced, students must be among the top 250,000 scorers (including all categories) in the B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE (Main) 2024. Seats are reserved for different categories as follows:

  • 10% General - Economically Weaker Section (GEN-EWS)
  • 27% Other Backward Classes - Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL)
  • 15% Scheduled Caste (SC)
  • 7.5% Scheduled Tribe (ST)
  • 40.5% Open for All (OPEN)
  • An additional 5% horizontal reservation within each category is available for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates.

The category-wise cut-off of NTA Score for JEE Advanced 2024 for Paper 1 is as follows:

  • UR-ALL: 93.2362181
  • UR-PwD: 93.2041331
  • EWS-ALL: 93.2312696
  • OBC-ALL: 93.2312696
  • SC-ALL: 93.2312696

The JEE Main 2024 counselling is the last stage to get into an engineering college after taking the JEE Main 2024 test. It’s managed by JoSAA, which assigns seats in different institutes like IITs, NITs, and GFTIs. This counselling is likely to be done online in June 2024. Although the exact dates haven’t been announced, they should be available soon on the JoSAA website [josaa.nic.in].

Note: JEE Main has two types of cut-offs:

  • Qualifying Cut-off: This is the minimum percentile/mark required to be eligible for JEE Advanced or for appearing in the counselling for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.
  • Admission Cut-off: This is the opening and closing ranks of different institutes/branches based on the candidate’s category. These ranks are determined based on the competition level for a particular seat.

Cut-offs for JEE Main are determined by the National Testing Agency (NTA) considering the following factors:

  • Number of Applicants vs. Seats: There are a limited number of seats in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs compared to the number of students appearing for JEE Main. So, with more applicants, the cut-off percentile/marks will be higher.
  • Difficulty Level of the Exam: If the JEE Main exam is considered difficult, the cut-off percentile might be slightly lower to account for the overall performance. On the other hand, an easier exam might result in a higher cut-off as more students score well.
  • Performance of the Test Takers: NTA analyzes the overall scores of all the candidates. The cut-off is set at a specific percentile (e.g., top 90% for General category) or based on achieving a certain minimum mark.

The year-wise cut-off percentiles for JEE Main are as follows:

  • 2024: 93.23
  • 2023: 90.77
  • 2022: 88.41
  • 2021: 87.8
  • 2020: 90.3
  • 2019: 89.7
