JEE Main 2024: What to Wear and Exam Day Guidelines

As the second session of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024 commences today, April 4, candidates are advised to carefully review the dress code and exam day guidelines to ensure a smooth and successful examination experience. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued detailed guidelines on the admit cards, which can be accessed on jeemain.nta.ac.in.

Dress Code and Footwear

On the day of the examination, candidates are required to wear light, comfortable clothing with half sleeves, such as a T-shirt. Long sleeves are strictly prohibited, as are garments with large buttons. When it comes to footwear, candidates should opt for slippers or sandals with low heels. Closed footwear, including shoes, is not permitted.

Additional Guidelines

It is essential to carry the printed admit card, which should be in color and on A4-sized paper, with all details, including the photo and signature, clearly visible. If the admit card has multiple pages, candidates must print out all the pages. Candidates are also advised to report early to the exam center to allow for proper frisking, if they wear specific attire for religious or customary reasons that may violate the dress code.

Prohibited Items

To ensure a distraction-free environment, candidates are not allowed to bring handbags, mobile phones, or any form of electronic devices to the exam center. Additionally, caps, dupatta, sunglasses, and metal objects, including watches, are strictly prohibited. A clock will be provided on the exam console, so candidates can keep track of time.

Permitted Items

Candidates are permitted to carry the following items to the exam center: the JEE Main admit card, photo ID, a photograph to be pasted on the attendance sheet, PwD certificate (if applicable), and a scribe document (if applicable). A pen and scribble pad will be provided, and candidates can also bring water, hand sanitizer, and edibles specified on the admit card (for diabetic candidates only).
