Chirag Falor, the brilliant mind who topped the JEE Advanced exam in 2020, has made a bold decision that has left many surprised. Despite securing a perfect 100 percentile in the JEE Mains and achieving the top rank in the JEE Advanced, Falor has chosen not to join the prestigious Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs). Instead, he has opted for the esteemed Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States.
Falor’s academic prowess is undeniable. He has consistently excelled in his studies, winning a gold medal at the 13th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) in 2019 and securing the top position in the American Mathematics competition. His impressive credentials earned him admission to MIT in March 2020, but the COVID-19 lockdown prevented him from traveling to the US. Undeterred, Falor began his studies online from India, attending classes at night and preparing for the IIT exams during the day.
“I have secured admission to MIT and am proceeding with it,” Falor told PTI. “I had prepared for these exams over four years, so I didn’t want to skip taking the exam.” Falor’s determination and perseverance have paid off, as he scored an impressive 352 out of 396 marks in the JEE Advanced.
Falor revealed that the JEE exam was more challenging than the MIT exam, giving him a newfound level of confidence. “I attended MIT classes online at night and prepared for the IIT exams during the day,” he explained. His unique approach to balancing online classes and exam preparation is a testament to his dedication and time management skills.
Falor’s decision to choose MIT over IIT is a reflection of his ambition and willingness to take risks. As he begins his academic journey at the prestigious institution, he is poised to make a mark in the world of academia.
