CLAT 2025: Registration Commences Today

The Consortium of National Law Universities has announced the commencement of registration for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025, starting from today, July 15, 2024. Eligible and interested applicants can apply for the examination until October 15, 2024, on the official website at consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The CLAT 2025 is scheduled to take place on December 1, 2024, from 2 pm to 4 pm, with an extended time of 4:40 pm for candidates with disabilities.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the undergraduate (UG) law program, candidates must have passed the 10+2 or a similar examination with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for reserved categories). For the postgraduate (PG) program, applicants must hold a LLB degree with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for reserved categories). There is no age limit for applying, and candidates who will be appearing for the qualifying test in March/April 2025 can also apply.

Required Documents

Applicants need to upload a new passport-sized photo, their signature, category certificate (if applicable), PWD certificate (if relevant), and domicile certificate (if necessary) during the registration process.

Application Fee

The application fee for CLAT 2025 is Rs 4,000 for applicants from general, OBC, PWD, NRI, PIO, and OCI categories. For SC, ST, and BPL category applicants, the fee is Rs 3,500.

Step-by-Step Registration Process

To apply for CLAT 2025, follow these steps:

Step 1: Visit the official website at consortiumofnlus.ac.in and register by providing essential details.

Step 2: Verify your registration through an OTP.

Step 3: Complete the registration by uploading the required documents.

Step 4: Pay the application fee (Rs 4,000 for general, OBC, PWD, NRI, PIO, and OCI candidates and Rs 3,500 for SC, ST candidates).

Step 5: Send the form and print the confirmation page.

Marking Scheme

The UG test consists of 120 questions divided across five segments: English language, current affairs and general knowledge, logical reasoning, legal reasoning, and quantitative techniques. Candidates will have two hours to complete the test. In 2024, a male student from Rajasthan topped the examination with a perfect score of 100 percentile, while five male and one female student scored 99.99 percentile.

What is CLAT?

The Common Law Admission Test, also known as CLAT, is a national-level law entrance test conducted by the Consortium of NLUs for admission to 5-year integrated LLB (UG) and one-year LLM (PG) courses. The examination is held for admission to 22 NLUs for UG courses and 21 NLUs for PG courses. The test is conducted in an offline, pen and paper format, where applicants need to attempt questions from English, Legal Reasoning, Current Affairs and GK, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Mathematics for the UG course, and from Constitutional Law, and other law subjects like Jurisprudence, CPC, Family Law, Torts, IPC, CrPC, and IPR for the PG course.
