The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the notification for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2024 exam on June 24, 2024. The SSC CGL 2024 exam offers a total of 17,727 vacancies across various posts, including Assistant Audit Officer, Assistant Accounts Officer, Assistant Section Officer, Inspector of Income Tax, and many more. The detailed list of vacancies will be updated once the notification is made public.

Eligibility Criteria: The Path to Success

To be eligible for the SSC CGL 2024 exam, candidates must meet the following educational qualification and age limit criteria:

  • Auditor, Accountant, Junior Accountant, Senior Secretariat Assistant, Upper Division Clerks, Tax Assistant, and Sub-Inspector: Bachelor’s Degree, 18-27 years of age
  • Inspector and Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree, 18-30 years of age
  • Assistant Section Officer: Bachelor’s Degree, 20-30 years of age
  • Assistant Audit Officer, Inspector of Income Tax, and Division Accountant: Bachelor’s Degree, 18-30 years of age
  • Junior Statistical Officer: Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics as one of the subjects or Bachelor’s degree with minimum 60% in Maths in Class 12, 18-32 years of age

Application Fee: A Small Price to Pay

Candidates from the General category will need to pay an application fee of ₹100. However, Female, SC, ST, Physically Handicapped, and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from the fee.

Selection Process: The Road to Success

The SSC CGL 2024 selection process consists of four stages:

  1. Tier 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
    • Duration: 60 minutes
    • Sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, English Comprehension
    • Questions: 100 (25 questions in each section)
    • Marks: 200 (2 marks for each correct answer)
    • Negative Marking: 0.50 marks deducted for each incorrect answer
  2. Tier 2: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
    • Duration: 2 hours for each paper
    • Sections: Paper I (Quantitative Abilities), Paper II (English Language and Comprehension), Paper III (Statistics) - applicable for certain posts
    • Questions: Varies based on the paper

    • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer in Paper II (English Language and Comprehension), 0.50 marks for Paper I and Paper III
  3. Tier 3: Pen and Paper (Descriptive)
    • Duration: 1 hour
    • Sections: Essay/Precis/Letter/Application Writing
    • Marks: 100
  4. Tier 4: Qualifying in Nature
    • Mode: As applicable for specific posts
    • Nature: Qualifying in nature
    • Sections: Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) for Tax Assistants and Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) for Assistant Section Officer in CSS and Assistant in MEA
