Centre’s Response to Supreme Court: No Abnormalities Found in NEET Exam Results, Malpractices Unlikely

In a recent development, the Centre has submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court, providing detailed information in response to the Court’s order passed on July 8. The Court had sought clarification on several aspects related to the alleged leak of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exam results.

According to the Centre’s submission, data analytics have been employed to scrutinize the exam results, and no abnormalities have been detected. This suggests that malpractices are unlikely to have occurred. The affidavit provides a comprehensive breakdown of the measures taken to identify the beneficiaries of the alleged leak, as well as the steps being taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

The Centre has revealed that the leak, if it occurred, took place at an unspecified location, and the time elapsed between the leak and the conduct of the examination is unknown. However, the authorities have taken swift action to identify the beneficiaries of the leak, and the process is ongoing.

To identify suspect or suspicious cases, the Centre has utilized data analytics within its cyber forensic unit, as well as sought the expertise of other government agencies. This collaborative effort has enabled the authorities to analyze the exam results and identify any potential irregularities.

The Centre has also outlined the modalities to be followed between the conclusion of the examination and the commencement of the counselling process. The re-test conducted for 1,563 students has been completed, and the actual counselling process is set to begin soon.

Furthermore, the Centre has outlined the measures it will take to ensure the sanctity of the NEET exam in the future. These steps include strengthening the security measures, enhancing the monitoring process, and implementing additional safeguards to prevent any unauthorized access to the exam results.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for conducting the NEET exam, has also submitted its response to the Court, providing information on the nature of the leak, the places where it occurred, and the steps taken to identify the beneficiaries. The NTA has assured the Court that it will continue to work closely with the Centre to ensure the integrity of the exam process.

The Centre’s affidavit has been filed in compliance with the Supreme Court’s order, providing a detailed account of the measures taken to address the alleged leak and ensure the sanctity of the NEET exam in the future.
