Tribal Students Make History: Two Tamil Nadu Students Crack JEE, Secure Admission to Trichy NIT

In a remarkable achievement, two students from the tribal community in Tamil Nadu have cracked the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and secured admission to the prestigious National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Tiruchirapalli. Rohini, an 18-year-old student from the Pachamalai hills, has made history by becoming the first tribal student from Trichy district to get admitted to NIT Trichy in the past 60 years.

Rohini, who cleared the JEE with an impressive 73.8 percent marks, has opted for chemical engineering. Her achievement is a significant milestone for the tribal community in the area, and her parents, who are construction workers, are overjoyed by her success. Despite their humble background, Rohini’s parents are working hard to create a better future for their children, and Rohini’s admission to NIT Trichy is a testament to their efforts.

Rohini’s journey to success began in a tribal government school, where she studied alongside her peers. Her determination and hard work paid off when she appeared for the JEE exam and secured a seat in NIT Trichy. In a tweet, Rohini expressed her excitement and gratitude, saying, “I am a student from a tribal community who studied in a tribal government school. I appeared in the JEE exam and secured 73.8 per cent. I have secured a seat in NIT Trichy and I opted for Chemical Engineering.”

Another tribal student, Sukanya, from Kariyakovil in Salem district, has also cleared the JEE exam and will join NIT Trichy to study production engineering. What’s more, the Tamil Nadu state government has come forward to pay all the college fees for both students, ensuring that they can focus on their studies without worrying about the financial burden.

Rohini’s achievement is not only a personal triumph but also a source of inspiration for the tribal community in Tamil Nadu. Her success story is a testament to the fact that with determination and hard work, anything is possible, regardless of one’s background or socio-economic status. As Rohini and Sukanya prepare to embark on their academic journey at NIT Trichy, they are sure to make their families and community proud.
