Tribal Girl Makes History, Secures Admission to NIT Trichy with 73.8% in JEE Exam

In a remarkable achievement, 18-year-old M Rohini from Pachamalai Hills in Tiruchirappalli district, Tamil Nadu, has become the first tribal girl from the region to secure admission into a prestigious Institute of National Importance. Rohini, a student from a tribal government school, has cleared the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and earned a seat at the National Institute of Technology-Tiruchy (NIT-T) to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering.

Rohini’s journey to success began when she started preparing for various competitive exams, including NEET, CLAT, and JEE, from a young age. Her hard work paid off when she secured 73.8% marks in JEE Mains, topping the state among 29 tribal schools. Through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority, she secured a place at NIT-T, a feat that has left her community and family in awe.

In an exclusive interview with ANI, Rohini expressed her gratitude to her headmaster and school staff, who encouraged her to appear for all the examinations. She credited her teachers’ dedication over the past two years, saying, “I can’t forget my teachers’ hard work in the past two years. They encouraged me to appear for all the examinations. I have always wanted to be an engineer, and now I will study at NIT-T. I will try my best to help students from my school to achieve the same.”

Rohini’s parents, both construction workers, had migrated to Kerala in the hope of building a better future for their children. Their sacrifices have now paid off, as their daughter has achieved a remarkable milestone. The Tamil Nadu state government has also come forward to support Rohini’s education, offering to pay her fees.

Rohini’s story is a testament to the power of hard work and determination. Despite facing challenges, she remained focused on her goal and has now secured a place at one of India’s top engineering institutions. Her achievement is a source of inspiration for students from her school and community, and she hopes to use her success to motivate others to pursue their dreams.
