Tribal Girl from Tamil Nadu’s Tiruchirappalli District Scores 73.8% in JEE Mains, Secures Seat in NIT

In a remarkable achievement, 18-year-old M Rohini from Tiruchirappalli district in Tamil Nadu has made history by becoming the first tribal student to secure admission to the Trichy National Institute of Technology (NIT). Rohini, a student from a tribal government school, has scored an impressive 73.8 percent in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains and has been offered a seat in the Chemical Engineering department at NIT Trichy.

Rohini’s journey to success was not without its challenges. She hails from a humble background, with her parents working as daily wage labourers in Chinna Ilupur Village. Despite the difficulties, Rohini was determined to pursue her academic goals and worked as a daily wage worker while preparing for the entrance exam. Rohini expressed her gratitude to her school headmaster and teachers, who she credited with helping and supporting her throughout her academic journey. She also thanked the Tamil Nadu state government for offering to pay her fees, which she said was a huge relief. “I am grateful to the Chief Minister, MK Stalin, for his support,” she said.
