Tribal Girl from Tamil Nadu Makes History by Securing Admission to NIT Trichy

In a remarkable achievement, 18-year-old Rohini from the Pachamalai Hills of Tiruchirappalli district in Tamil Nadu has become the first tribal girl from her district to gain admission to the prestigious National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Trichy. Rohini’s remarkable feat was made possible by clearing the highly competitive Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) with a score of 73.8% in JEE Mains, making her the top scorer among students from 29 tribal schools in the state.

Rohini’s journey to success began in a government school, where she was encouraged by her teachers to pursue her dreams. Despite the challenges she faced, Rohini remained focused and determined to achieve her goal of becoming an engineer. Her impressive performance in JEE earned her a seat in the Chemical Engineering program at NIT Trichy, allocated through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).

Rohini expressed her gratitude to the Tamil Nadu state government, which has agreed to cover all her fees, and her school staff, particularly her headmaster, for their support. She also credited her teachers for their relentless encouragement and motivation over the past two years. “I can’t forget my teachers’ hard work,” she said. “They motivated me to appear for all major exams, including NEET, CLAT, and JEE. I’ve always aspired to be an engineer, and now I have the chance to study at NIT Trichy. I hope to inspire and assist students from my school to achieve similar success.”

Rohini’s parents, both construction workers, had migrated to Kerala in hopes of securing a better future for their children. Her achievement not only brings pride to her family but also serves as an inspiration to many in her community. Rohini’s story is a testament to the power of determination and hard work, and she is an inspiration to young girls from tribal communities across the country.

Rohini’s achievement is a significant milestone, not only for her family but also for her community. Her success is a reminder that with the right support and encouragement, young girls from underprivileged backgrounds can achieve their dreams and make a difference in the world.
