JEE Success Story: Tribal Teen’s Triumph Against All Odds

In a heartwarming tale of perseverance and determination, 18-year-old Rohini from Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, has made history by securing an impressive 73.8% in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), one of India’s most challenging exams. This remarkable achievement has earned her a spot at the prestigious National Institute of Technology (NIT) Trichy, where she will pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering.

Rohini’s journey to success is all the more remarkable given her humble beginnings. Hailing from a tribal community, she grew up in Chinna Ilupur Village, where her parents worked as daily wage laborers. Despite the odds, Rohini’s passion for learning drove her to excel in school, where she was supported by her headmaster and teachers. In an exclusive interview with ANI, Rohini shared her story, “I’m a student from a tribal community who studied in a tribal government school. I appeared in the JEE exam and secured 73.8 percent. I have secured a seat in NIT Trichy, and I opted for Chemical Engineering. The Tamil Nadu state government has come forward to pay all my fees. I thank the Chief Minister for helping me. I performed well because of my headmaster and the staff of my school.”

What’s even more inspiring is that Rohini didn’t let her circumstances hold her back. While preparing for the exam, she worked as a daily wage laborer alongside her parents, juggling her studies with her daily responsibilities. “My parents are daily wage workers, and even I also worked as a daily wage worker while preparing for the exam. Since I studied well, I got a seat in Trichy NIT,” she said, her voice filled with pride and gratitude.

Rohini’s achievement is a testament to the power of hard work and determination. Her story is a shining example of how with the right support and motivation, anyone can overcome adversity and achieve their dreams. The Tamil Nadu state government’s decision to cover her fees is a welcome gesture, and Rohini is grateful for the Chief Minister’s support.

As Rohini prepares to embark on her new journey at NIT Trichy, she remains humble and grounded, crediting her success to her school and teachers. Her story is a beacon of hope for many young students from underprivileged backgrounds, inspiring them to chase their aspirations and never give up on their dreams.
