The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024 result for session 2, and the news is not good for aspiring IIT students. The cut-off has increased by 2.45% this year, making it even more challenging for students to secure a spot in the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

A total of 9.24 lakh candidates registered for the JEE Main 2024 exams, with 8.2 lakh appearing for the January and April sessions. The number of 100 percentilers has increased by 13 candidates, with a total of 56 students achieving a perfect score in Paper 1 (BE/BTech). Two of these students are girls, Sanvi Jain from Karnataka and Shayna Sinha from Delhi, while the rest are male candidates.

Telangana has reported the highest number of 100 percentilers, with 15 students achieving the milestone, followed by Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, each with 7 students. Delhi NCR has seen an increase in the number of 100 percentilers, from 2 in 2023 to 6 in 2024, while Rajasthan has maintained its number at 7.

The cut-off for general category candidates has increased to 93.23, up from 90.77 in 2023. For SC candidates, the cut-off is 60.09, a significant jump from 51.97 in 2023. The JEE Main 2024 result has been released on the official website - jeemain.nta.ac.in. Students who appeared for the exams can check their scores online. The increase in cut-off marks is expected to make it more challenging for students to secure a spot in IITs, but it also reflects the growing competition in the exams.

The top 2.5 lakh candidates in each category will be eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced exam, which is the next step towards getting into IITs. The JEE Advanced exam is scheduled to be held in June 2024.

The JEE Main 2024 result is a significant milestone for students who have been preparing for the exams for months. While the increase in cut-off marks may be a challenge, it also reflects the growing competition and the need for students to work harder to achieve their goals.
