The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has officially announced the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025 notification, along with the exam dates. The CLAT 2025 will be conducted on Sunday, December 1, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, with a time extension for candidates with disabilities (PwD) from 2:00 to 4:40 PM. The online application forms for the examination will be available from July 15, 2024, and will close on October 15, 2024.

The CLAT 2025 examination will be held in pen and paper mode (offline) at over 133 exam centers across India. The test will comprise 120 objective-type questions, covering subjects such as legal aptitude, current affairs, general knowledge, English, maths, and logical reasoning at the undergraduate level, and LLB subjects at the postgraduate level.

The Common Law Admission Test is a national-level entrance exam that is accepted as the admission criterion for 24 national law universities (NLUs) for undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The exam is conducted annually to admit students into the 5-year integrated LLB (UG) and one-year LLM (PG) courses.

Education Qualification

Candidates seeking admission into the undergraduate program (Five Year Integrated Law Degree) in National Law Universities (NLUs) must have passed their 10+2 examination with a minimum of 45% marks in both examinations from a well-recognised board or equivalent grade. Candidates belonging to lower caste categories (SC/ST/PwD) must have secured 40% marks in both examinations.

Candidates seeking admission into the postgraduate program (One Year LL.M Degree) in National Law Universities (NLUs) must have an LL.B Degree or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks in LL.B or equivalent examination. Candidates belonging to lower caste categories (SC/ST/PwD) must have secured 45% marks in LL.B or equivalent examination.

Application Fee

The application fee to register for the CLAT 2025 examination is:

  • For candidates belonging to general category: Rs. 4,000/-
  • For candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD/BPL: Rs. 3,500/-

Age Limit

There is no particular age limit set to register for the CLAT 2025. Candidates of any age are allowed to appear for the examination.
