SSC CGL 2024 Notification: A Comprehensive Guide to Eligibility, Fee, Selection Process, and Vacancies

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the notification for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2024 exam on June 24, 2024. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply online from June 24 to July 27, 2024, on the official website, https://ssc.nic.in/. The exam is designed to fill various posts under the Government of India, including Assistant Audit Officer, Assistant Accounts Officer, Assistant Section Officer, and more.

Vacancies:

The SSC CGL 2024 exam will fill a total of 17,727 vacancies across various departments and organizations. The vacancies are categorized into different posts, including:

  • AAO (Assistant Audit Officer) - Indian Audit & Accounts Department under C&AG
  • ACO (Assistant Accounts Officer) - Indian Audit & Accounts Department under C&AG
  • ASO (Assistant Section Officer) - Central Secretariat Service, Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of Railway, Ministry of External Affairs, AFHQ
  • Assistant - Other Ministries/Departments/Organizations
  • IIT (Inspector of Income Tax) - CBDT
  • ICE (Inspector) - Central Excise (CBIC)
  • AEO (Assistant Enforcement Officer) - Directorate of Enforcement, Department of Revenue
  • SI (Sub Inspector) - Central Bureau of Investigation
  • Inspector - Central Bureau of Narcotics
  • JSO (Junior Statistical Officer) - M/ Statistics & Programme Implementation
  • SIGO-II (Statistical Investigator Grade-II) - Registrar General of India

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the SSC CGL 2024 exam, candidates must meet the following educational qualification and age limit criteria:

  • Auditor, Accountant, Junior Accountant, Senior Secretariat, Upper Division Clerks, Tax Assistant & Sub-Inspector: Bachelor’s Degree, 18-27 years
  • Inspector & Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree, 18-30 years
  • Assistant Section Officer: Bachelor’s Degree, 20-30 years
  • Assistant Audit Officer, Inspector of Income Tax & Division Accountant: Bachelor’s Degree, 18-30 years
  • Junior Statistical Officer: Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics as one of the subjects or Bachelor’s degree with minimum 60% in Maths in Class 12, 18-32 years

Application Fee:

The application fee for the SSC CGL 2024 exam is Rs. 100 for General and Female, SC, ST, Physically Handicapped, and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from the fee.

Selection Process:

The SSC CGL 2024 selection process consists of four stages:

  • Tier 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT) - 60 minutes, 100 questions, 200 marks, 0.50 marks deducted for each incorrect answer
  • Tier 2: Computer-Based Test (CBT) - 2 hours for each paper, varying questions and marks, 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer in Paper II (English Language and Comprehension), 0.50 marks for Paper I and Paper III
  • Tier 3: Pen and Paper (Descriptive) - 1 hour, 100 marks
  • Tier 4: As applicable for specific posts, qualifying in nature
