Get Ready for SSC Stenographer Exams in 2024!
Are you a whiz at stenography and dreaming of a government job? The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will soon announce the exam dates for Grade C and D Stenographer positions in various departments across India.
Mark your calendars! The official notification with all the details is expected on July 16, 2024. Don’t miss out – the application window closes on August 14, 2024.
Exams are tentatively scheduled between October and November 2024.
Who can apply?
- Citizenship: You must be an Indian citizen. People from Nepal, Bhutan, and migrants from certain other countries (Myanmar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Eastern African Countries, and Vietnam) can also apply.
- Age: Generally, you should be under 30 years old. However, age relaxations are available for specific categories as per government rules.
- Education: You need to have passed your 12th grade (Intermediate) or an equivalent exam from a recognized board. Plus, you should have the necessary stenography skills acquired from a recognized institution.

What’s the exam like?
The selection process involves two stages:

Computer-Based Test (CBT): This two-hour exam will have 200 multiple-choice questions covering:
- General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 questions)
- General Awareness (50 questions)
- English Language & Comprehension (100 questions) Each correct answer gets you one mark, and for every wrong answer, one-third of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.

Skill Test: If you clear the CBT, you’ll be called for a stenography skill test at one of the SSC’s regional offices. You’ll be given 10 minutes of dictation in either Hindi or English.
How much is the application fee?
- For UR/OBC candidates: ₹100/-
- For SC/ST/Women/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen: No Fee

How to apply?
- Visit the official SSC website: ssc.gov.in
- Look for the SSC Stenographer Grade C and D application link in the notification section.
- If you’re a new user, register yourself with your details. If you’ve already registered, log in using your credentials.
- Fill out the application form carefully.
- Upload your passport-size photo and signature as per the specified size mentioned in the notification.
- Pay the application fee.
- Download and save a copy of your application form for future reference.
