NEET 2024 News: Petition Filed By 65 Candidates In Supreme Court To Stop NTA From Cancelling NEET-UG 2024

Ahead of the important July 8 Supreme Court hearing before a three-judge bench led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, 65 medical students from Gujarat have filed a petition. They are against the demands for a re-exam and the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2024 results.

The students want the medical admissions to continue based on the current results, except for those who cheated in the exam. This petition comes at a time when the government has already stated that NEET will not be cancelled. The government emphasized that the careers of many students who passed the exam fairly should not be affected by a few cases of cheating.

The petitioners have asked the Supreme Court to issue an order to the National Testing Agency (NTA) to stop them from cancelling the NEET-UG 2024 exams. They argue that cancelling the exam would be unfair to the students who worked hard and passed honestly. They also say it would violate their basic rights under Articles 14 and 21A of the Indian Constitution.

“The Hon’ble court may further direct the respondents not to re-conduct NEET-UG 2024 by cancelling NEET-UG 2024 held on 05.05.2024 as that would not only be unreasonable and harsh for the honest and hardworking students but also would lead to the infringement of the Right to Education and therefore violative of Article 14 of the Constitution of India, 1950,” said the petition.
