Xiaomi SU7 Electric Car Showcased in India: A Glimpse into the Future of Mobility

Xiaomi India, a leading technology company, recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in the country by unveiling its first electric car, the Xiaomi SU7. This milestone marks a significant step towards the company’s vision of creating a seamless, intelligent future through its “Human x Car x Home” smart ecosystem.

The Xiaomi SU7 is a testament to the company’s commitment to innovation, with a global investment of US$ 10 billion in the automotive sector. In China, the electric sedan has already received an overwhelming response, with over 70,000 bookings and a target of delivering 1,00,000 units by the end of the year.

The SU7’s design is a result of in-house development under the leadership of Sawyer Li, Xiaomi’s Head of Design, who has previously worked with BMW. The car’s sleek exterior lines are designed to reduce drag coefficient, while its high structural makeup ensures better safety. The SU7 measures 4,997mm in length, 1,963mm in width, and 1,455mm in height, with a 3,000mm long wheelbase, offering ample storage space with its 105-liter front trunk and 517-liter boot.

The SU7 is equipped with the latest technology, featuring Xiaomi Pilot, LiDAR, 11 HD cameras, and NVIDIA Drive Orin computing platform. This enables autonomous driving capabilities, including highway driving, self-parking, and summoning the vehicle. The car’s cabin boasts a 16.1-inch 3K central console, 56-inch HUD display unit, and 7.1-inch rotating dashboard, providing an immersive driving experience. Rear passengers can enjoy two tablet mounts, while the air conditioning and lighting systems are automatically activated based on location and time of day.

The SU7 is available in two versions: rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The rear-wheel drive variant is powered by a 400V electric motor with a rear-mounted Hyper Engine V6 electric motor, producing 295 hp power and 400 Nm torque, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.28 seconds. The all-wheel drive SU7 Max, on the other hand, features an 800V architecture and dual electric motors, generating 664 hp power and 838 Nm torque, with a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 2.78 seconds and a top speed of 265 km/h. The car’s range is up to 800 kilometers.

It is essential to note that the Xiaomi SU7 was showcased in India solely for testing customer interest and gauging market dynamics, and it is not available for sale in the Indian market. The car’s performance and features make it a strong contender in the electric vehicle segment, rivaling models like the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT. In India, it will compete with established electric models such as the BYD Seal EV, BMW i3, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV6.

The SU7’s variants include the SU7 standard, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max, offering customers a range of options to suit their needs. With its impressive features and performance, the Xiaomi SU7 is a glimpse into the future of mobility, showcasing the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
