BSP Tamil Nadu Chief Hacked To Death By 6 Men, 8 Suspects In Custody

In a shocking incident, the Tamil Nadu chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Armstrong, was brutally murdered by six men on motorcycles near his residence in Chennai on Friday. The police have detained eight suspects in connection with the crime.

The attack occurred while Armstrong was engaged in a discussion with party members near his home in the Sembium area of Chennai. Despite being rushed to the hospital by his family, he was declared dead upon arrival.

Authorities suspect that this could be a revenge killing linked to the murder of a gangster named Arcot Suresh last year. A senior police officer stated, “We are conducting an investigation. The murder seems to be linked to an earlier killing.”

Senior Chennai police officer Asra Garg mentioned, “In the murder case, we have secured 8 suspects so far. This is a preliminary investigation. Ten teams have been formed to bring the offenders to light. After interrogating these suspects, we will be able to determine the motive behind the murder. Some sharp weapons have been used.”

Reports suggest that the attackers may have posed as food delivery agents, but this has not been confirmed by the police. The Sembium inspector of police has been assigned to solve the case.

The opposition has criticized the ruling DMK party, claiming that the murder highlights the deteriorating law and order situation in Tamil Nadu. Leader of Opposition Edappadi Palaniswamy remarked, “What do I say when the state chief of a national party is murdered? The law and order situation is shameful. There is no fear of law or the police.”

Armstrong, a lawyer by profession, was elected to the Chennai Corporation Council in 2006. He gained prominence after organizing a massive rally in Chennai two years ago, which was attended by BSP chief Mayawati.

In a social media post, Mayawati condemned the murder and called for justice. “The gruesome killing of Mr. K Armstrong, Tamil Nadu state Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president, outside his Chennai house is highly deplorable and condemnable. An advocate by profession, he was known as a strong Dalit voice in the state. The state Govt. must punish the guilty,” she wrote.
