iOS 18 With India-Focused Customisation And Multilingual Support Rolling Out For iPhone Users
Apple has announced new features for iOS 18 that are specifically designed for Indian users. These updates include better language support and other features tailored for people in India. The company also mentioned improvements to the Move to iOS app, which will be part of this update set to release later this year.
iOS 18 was first introduced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024. Apple showcased several features aimed at the Indian market, hoping to attract more users in the world’s second-largest smartphone market. The new update uses Apple Intelligence to offer a more personalized and user-friendly experience.
This latest iPhone update, iOS 18, is packed with many new features. Users can now customize their Home Screen more freely by organizing apps and widgets. The Photos app has also received a major redesign, the biggest one yet. Other improvements include call recording and new text effects in iMessage, making the overall user experience better.
iOS 18 shows Apple’s dedication to the Indian market with its focus on customization and AI integration.
Live Voicemail Transcription In Indian English
One of the new features in iOS 18 is Live Voicemail Transcription in Indian English. This allows users to screen incoming calls by asking callers to leave a message, which is then transcribed in real-time. Users can decide to answer the call at any point during the voicemail. Apple is also adding Live Caller ID, smart call history search, phone keypad search, and other dialing improvements specifically for Indian users.
Language Search In Indian Languages
iOS 18 will support several Indian languages in its language search feature. This means users can search for words using familiar spellings, even if there are variations within the same language. Supported languages include Assamese, Bangla, Devanagari, and Gujarati.
Siri Supports 9 More Languages
Siri will now support 9 additional Indian languages along with Indian English. Users can perform tasks like setting alarms and launching apps using a mix of English and regional languages. Siri can also respond in Hindi.
Multilingual Support
iPhone 12 and newer models will soon support phonetic typing using Latin characters in English and up to two additional Indian languages. This will provide a trilingual predictive typing experience. The multilingual keyboard will be integrated throughout the operating system, remembering the script used in previous conversations and switching automatically as needed. Initially, this feature will support English, Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu.
