Apple to Join OpenAI Board as Observer in New AI Agreement: Report
According to a report by Bloomberg News on Tuesday, Apple is set to gain an observer role on OpenAI’s board as part of a significant AI agreement announced last month.
Phil Schiller, who currently leads Apple’s App Store and previously served as the company’s marketing chief, has been selected for this observer position, the report stated.
This board arrangement is expected to come into effect later this year. As of now, Schiller has not attended any board meetings, the report mentioned.
An observer is allowed to attend board meetings but does not have the right to vote or exercise other powers that board directors typically have. However, observers do get a chance to understand how decisions are made within the company.
