Chandrababu Naidu Seeks Meeting with Revanth Reddy, Sparks Political Buzz
In a move that has stirred political discussions, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has requested a face-to-face meeting with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The aim of this meeting is to address issues that have arisen since the bifurcation of the state.
Naidu, whose party TDP is part of the BJP-led NDA, has suggested holding the meeting at Reddy’s residence in Hyderabad on July 6.
In his letter to Revanth Reddy, who is now with Congress, Naidu emphasized the importance of close cooperation between the chief ministers of the Telugu-speaking states. He believes this collaboration is crucial for the continued progress and prosperity of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
“It has been 10 years since the division of the former Andhra Pradesh. There have been many discussions about the issues from the Reorganisation Act, which are important for the welfare and development of our states,” Naidu wrote in the letter.
Naidu, the leader of TDP, stated that a face-to-face meeting would allow for a thorough discussion to find mutually beneficial solutions.
Interestingly, Revanth Reddy was once a member of TDP and a close associate of Chandrababu Naidu before he joined Congress.
Naidu’s proposal comes at a significant time, as the deadline set by the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, for Hyderabad to serve as the joint capital of both states has ended. Now, Hyderabad will be the capital of Telangana alone, while Andhra Pradesh still needs to establish its own capital city.
The TDP has announced plans to develop Amaravati as the state capital. However, the previous government led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRCP had rejected this plan and proposed a three-capital model. According to this proposal, Amaravati would be the legislative capital, Kurnool the judicial capital, and Visakhapatnam the administrative capital. Unfortunately, this plan did not materialize.
