Fixed Rates for Dengue Tests in Private Hospitals: Karnataka Health Minister
From January to the end of June, Karnataka has seen 6,187 dengue cases and six deaths, with a death rate of 0.09%. The most affected areas include Bengaluru, Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru, Haveri, Shivamogga, Chitradurga, and Dakshina Kannada districts.
The Health Minister assured that all hospitals in the state are equipped with the necessary treatment facilities.
Dinesh Gundu Rao also directed BBMP officials and ASHA workers to go door-to-door to raise awareness about dengue, the Aedes mosquito, and its larvae. In rural areas, primary health center (PHC) medical officers are required to visit schools to educate children and ensure teachers are implementing dengue prevention measures.
The minister instructed BBMP officials in Bengaluru and the state health department to conduct source reduction activities every Friday. They must also keep higher officials updated on the actions taken to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.
Additionally, he asked BBMP officials to meet with construction companies to ensure that any standing water, which could serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes, is properly managed and treated.
