Samsung Galaxy Watches to Introduce Family Health Tracking

Samsung Galaxy Watches to Introduce Family Health Tracking

Samsung is gearing up to add a new feature to its smartwatches that will allow users to track the health data of family members, according to a recent analysis of the latest Samsung Health app code. This means you will soon be able to monitor health information collected by a Galaxy Watch worn by your child or another family member directly from your smartphone.

To use this feature, there will be an approval process where one Samsung account can access the health data of other accounts. This process includes privacy and security measures to prevent misuse. Family members can choose to stop sharing their data or adjust the amount and type of data they share at any time. For children, access to their health information will require consent from a legal guardian.

The shared health data will be automatically deleted if there is a long period of inactivity, and the sharing permission will be revoked. In such cases, you will need to go through the approval process again. To keep the data updated, your child or relative will need to wear their Galaxy Watch regularly.

It is anticipated that this feature will be introduced with the upcoming Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra, which are expected to be officially announced next week on July 10. However, Samsung may also extend this feature to older smartwatch models with the One UI 6 Watch update.
