PM Narendra Modi to Address Lok Sabha Today Following Rahul Gandhi’s Strong Criticism Over NEET and Agniveer

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to speak in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, June 2, following Rahul Gandhi’s intense speech as the Leader of Opposition. Modi will respond to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address in the lower House of Parliament. His speech will be broadcast on Sansad TV.

Before addressing the Parliament, Modi will meet with the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) parliamentary party at 9:30 am. This will be his first address to the ruling party’s MPs since securing his third term in office.

This event is significant because, for the first time since 2014, the BJP has lost its majority in the Lok Sabha after the recent elections. The BJP won 240 seats, while its allies secured 53, allowing the NDA to comfortably surpass the halfway mark in the 543-member House.

The debate on the Motion of Thanks, initially set for Friday, was delayed due to opposition MPs protesting irregularities in the NEET examination and demanding discussions on the issue.

Modi’s response comes a day after Rahul Gandhi’s sharp criticism of the BJP over its comments during the Lok Sabha elections, allegations about the NEET paper, and the Agnipath scheme.

In his speech, Rahul Gandhi criticized the Agnipath scheme, stating that an Agniveer who died in a landmine blast was not called a ‘martyr’. He described Agniveers as “use and throw laborers.”

Gandhi also introduced the Hindu symbol ‘Abhayamudra’, which signifies fearlessness, reassurance, and safety, as the symbol of the Congress party. He accused the BJP of promoting violence and hate.

“Abhayamudra is the symbol of the Congress. It represents fearlessness, reassurance, and safety, dispelling fear and offering divine protection and bliss in Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism, and other Indian religions. All our great leaders have spoken about non-violence and eliminating fear. But those who call themselves Hindu only talk about violence, hatred, and untruth. You are not true Hindus,” Gandhi said.

His remarks led to a backlash from NDA leaders, who accused him of linking violence with Hinduism and demanded a public apology for his comments in Parliament.
