IMD Issues Red Alert for Heavy Rain in 7 States, Flash Flood Expected in Uttarakhand, Goa, Karnataka
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in several states across India for July 1. The states under red alert include Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Gujarat, Assam, and Meghalaya, with the alert lasting until July 4.
Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Goa, effective until July 5.
The IMD has warned that active monsoon conditions will continue over Northwest, East, and Northeast India for the next 4-5 days.

- Heavy rain is likely in West Rajasthan from July 1-5, East Madhya Pradesh on July 1, 3, and 4, and Chhattisgarh from July 1-3.
East India:
- Very heavy rain with thunderstorms and lightning is expected in Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim over the next 5 days.
- Rainfall is predicted in East India for the next 5 days.
- Heavy rain is likely in Bihar from July 1-5, Gangetic West Bengal on July 1, 4, and 5, Odisha on July 1, and Jharkhand from July 1-3.
South and West India:
- Rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is expected in Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Coastal Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, and Gujarat for the next 5 days.
- Rain is predicted in Maharashtra, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam for the next 5 days.
- Rainfall is likely in Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Interior Karnataka for the next 5 days.
- Heavy rain is expected in Gujarat, Konkan, and Goa from July 1-5.
- Heavy rain is likely in the ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on July 1 and 2.
- Similar conditions will prevail in Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe from July 1-3, and in South Interior Karnataka from July 3-5.

- There is a risk of flash floods in Saurashtra and Kutch, South Konkan, Goa, and Coastal Karnataka over the next 24 hours.
