He assured me of full cooperation from the Government of India in this hour of crisis,” Himanta Sarma posted on X (formerly Twitter).
The flood situation has worsened in several districts of Assam, with five major rivers, including the Brahmaputra, flowing above the danger level.
Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal also spoke with the Assam Chief Minister about the flood situation in the worst-affected districts such as Dibrugarh and Tinsukia. Sonowal requested Sarma to provide all necessary assistance to the flood victims.
According to the latest data from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), over 262,000 people have been affected, and 44 have died due to floods, storms, and landslides this year.
