Video: Israeli Driver Enters Palestinian Territory, His Car Set on Fire
An Israeli citizen accidentally drove into the Palestinian town of Qalandiya, located between Jerusalem and Ramallah in the West Bank. This mistake led to a violent encounter with local residents.
Videos shared on social media show a group of Palestinians chasing the Israeli’s car and throwing stones at it. The driver tried to escape but lost control and crashed into a concrete barrier near a military checkpoint, according to a report by the Times of Israel. The driver sustained minor injuries and was later rescued and taken to Shaare Zedek hospital in Jerusalem.
Footage also showed that the car was set on fire by the Palestinian attackers.
The incident occurred against a backdrop of increasing violence in the West Bank, which has been under Israeli occupation since 1967. Just last week, the Israeli military reported that one soldier was killed and another seriously injured during an operation in Jenin, a city known for its militant activity. The Israeli army often conducts raids in Jenin and its nearby refugee camp as part of its security measures.
Violence in the West Bank has surged, especially after the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza began on October 7. Palestinian officials say that at least 553 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers in the West Bank since the conflict started. On the other hand, attacks by Palestinians have resulted in the deaths of at least 15 Israelis, including soldiers, during the same period, according to AFP.
