UK Woman Prison Officer Charged After Sex Video With Inmate Goes Viral

The Metropolitan Police began an investigation on Friday after a video surfaced online.

A female prison officer in the UK has been charged after a video allegedly showing her having sex with an inmate at HMP Wandsworth, a prison in southwest London, went viral on social media, according to a report.

Linda De Sousa Abreu, 30, from Fulham, west London, is facing charges of misconduct in public office. She is set to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court today.

The Metropolitan Police started their investigation on Friday after the video, which was reportedly filmed inside the prison, appeared online. The footage allegedly shows the officer in full uniform before engaging in the act.

HMP Wandsworth, a prison built in 1851 during the Victorian era, has been dealing with severe overcrowding and poor conditions. Recent inspections have highlighted serious problems, including widespread violence, vermin infestations, and major staffing issues. The prison, which was designed to hold far fewer inmates, is currently operating at 163 percent of its intended capacity, with over 1,500 prisoners.

The dire situation at the prison has led to urgent calls for reform. In May, Chief Inspector of Prisons Charlie Taylor issued an “urgent notification” to Justice Secretary Alex Chalk, stressing the critical state of the prison and the need for immediate improvements. Taylor’s report described the prison’s wings as “chaotic” and noted that staff were unable to manage or account for prisoners effectively. This situation resulted in the resignation of the prison’s governor, Katie Price, following the inspection.

A spokesperson for Scotland Yard confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. “Staff corruption is not tolerated, and the former prison officer allegedly featured in this video has been reported to the police,” said a Prison Service representative. They declined to comment further due to the active investigation.
