OPPO Teases Launch of India’s First Everyday AI Phones

OPPO is gearing up to introduce the Reno12 series of Android 14 smartphones to a new market, bringing along some exciting new AI features. These phones are said to offer some of the most powerful and almost magical photo-editing tools available, making life easier for users with the help of Google Gemini.

The Reno12 series is expected to be the leading choice for bringing mobile AI to the mainstream in 2024. These new phones will follow the current models, which start at INR 27,200 ($326 new, or INR 23,899 ($287) refurbished) on Amazon.in. Despite their affordable price, they will offer advanced photo-editing features typically found in high-end models like the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

OPPO has announced that the Reno12 lineup will use the latest MediaTek platforms to deliver a variety of popular AI features to the Indian market. These include AI Eraser 2.0 and AI Best Face, which are similar to Magic Eraser and Best Take, respectively.

The Reno12 and likely the 12 Pro will also support AI Studio, allowing users to turn selfies into custom avatars. Additionally, AI Clear Face will enhance the details of every face in a group photo.

These phones are also designed to boost productivity with features like AI Speak for dictation and AI Summary to help with studying, thanks to the integration of Google’s Gemini assistant.

The Reno12 series will come with new 50MP main cameras and 80W wired charging, all wrapped in a slightly retro design. The release date is yet to be announced by OPPO’s exclusive launch partner, Flipkart.
