Siraj’s Grand Gesture for Jasprit Bumrah After T20 World Cup Victory: ‘Best Bowler on Land, Air & Water’ Placard
India’s top fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, received high praise from his teammate Mohammed Siraj following India’s historic win in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Bumrah, who was named Player of the Tournament, played a crucial role in ending India’s 11-year wait for an ICC title. He led the bowling attack, consistently delivering in tough situations, ensuring India remained undefeated throughout the tournament. After the victory, Siraj and Bumrah celebrated together, as captured by REUTERS.
Bumrah, 30, was outstanding throughout the tournament, making it difficult for opposing batsmen to handle his varied deliveries. He took 15 wickets in 8 matches and maintained an impressive economy rate of 4.18. His performance in the final against South Africa was particularly notable, where he took two wickets for just 18 runs in his four overs. With only 26 runs to defend in the last four overs, memories of the 2023 ODI World Cup final began to haunt fans.
However, Bumrah’s second spell turned the game around. He bowled the crucial 16th and 18th overs, conceding only six runs in 12 balls and taking the wicket of Marco Jansen, shifting the momentum in India’s favor.
After the match, Siraj presented Bumrah with a special placard that read, “Bumrah - Best bowler on land, air & water,” as a token of appreciation for his exceptional performance.
Speaking to Dinesh Karthik on Star Sports, Siraj praised Bumrah, calling him India’s game-changer. “I only believed in Jassi bhai. The game changer is only one guy and that’s Jasprit Bumrah,” Siraj said.
Siraj also shared that he was reminded of the 2023 ODI World Cup final during the match and expressed his indescribable joy at winning the T20 World Cup. “I was thinking of exactly that same day (19th November). It’s an unbelievable feeling to be honest. I can’t describe this feeling. Last year’s World Cup we lost. As a player, this feeling is unbelievable. Every professional cricketer wants the World Cup. I am grateful, blessed and lucky to live this moment. Thank you God!” he added.
