Telangana to Appoint One Teacher for Every School with 10 Students

The Telangana government has decided to assign one teacher to every government school that has between one and ten students. This move is part of an official effort to transfer teachers based on the number of students in each school, aiming to enhance the quality of education.

Previously, the government had issued orders in 2015 and 2021, which stated that schools with 0-19 students would have one teacher, those with 20-60 students would have two teachers, and schools with 61-90 students would have three teachers.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the current government has now revised these allocations. Schools with 1-10 students will have one teacher, those with 11-40 students will have two teachers, and schools with 41-60 students will have three teachers. For schools with more than 61 students, web options have been provided to fill all sanctioned teacher posts.

Schools with no students will not receive any teacher posts. However, if the number of students in a school increases, the number of teacher posts will also be increased accordingly.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy emphasized that, unlike the previous administration, his government will not close down single-teacher schools. He noted that these schools were previously shut down due to a lack of students, which was a result of insufficient focus on improving school infrastructure.

Reaffirming his government’s dedication to providing educational facilities in every village and hamlet, the Chief Minister mentioned that they have started a project worth Rs 2,000 crore to rebuild all government school buildings that are in poor condition.

Additionally, the government has launched the Professor Jayashankar Badi Bata program to boost student enrollment in government schools.
