AAP Criticizes CBI Over Arvind Kejriwal’s Arrest: ‘Mockery of Judiciary’
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh criticized the Central government on Sunday for the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the alleged excise policy scam. Singh claimed that the CBI acted on the orders of the Union government. He also accused both the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and CBI of disrespecting the court by seeking exceptions from the Supreme Court.
On June 26, Kejriwal was taken into CBI custody just hours after his arrest in a corruption case related to the now-canceled Delhi excise policy.

“You have made a mockery of the judiciary, law and order, and the constitution of this country,” Sanjay Singh said, alleging that the Centre had fabricated a case against Kejriwal after two years.
Singh further accused the ED and CBI of contempt of court for requesting exceptions from the Supreme Court. “You have filed multiple cases against Manish Sisodia. ED and CBI have no proof, just to get their way…This is contempt of the honourable Supreme Court, and I request the court to take action on this contempt," he stated at a press conference.
Sanjay Singh also mentioned that the ED has neither evidence nor a money trail against Kejriwal and has failed to recover any money from him. “The court (Rouse Avenue Court) said in its order that ED has no evidence against Arvind Kejriwal and is acting with malicious intent,” he reported, citing ANI.
He accused the ED of approaching the high court in an unconstitutional and illegal manner to get a stay on Kejriwal’s bail. Singh added, “The central government feared that Kejriwal would be released… The BJP government immediately filed a new case against him and had him arrested,” following the CBI’s actions.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has been in jail since March 21, 2024, and was granted bail for a short period to campaign for his party during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
