Nashik city has seen a significant increase in dengue cases this year, with a total of 198 cases reported so far. The spread of the disease has been largely due to mosquito breeding spots in residential areas. From June 1 to June 22, 94 new cases were reported.

Efforts to curb illegal parking in Kolkata have intensified, with over 6,000 fines issued at 2,200 spots. Enhanced services and collaborative drives aim to combat extortion and ensure parking compliance in the city.

In Nashik, 71 dengue cases were reported in the past week alone, bringing the total for June to 165. Since January 1, the city has recorded 269 dengue cases: 25 in January, 22 in February, 11 in March, 13 in April, 33 in May, and the rest in June. The civic body has fined four builders Rs 8,400 for creating mosquito breeding spots at their construction sites in the Pathardi area of the Cidco division.

An NMC official stated, “We found several mosquito breeding spots at the construction sites of these four builders. We recovered a fine of Rs 8,400 from them.” The official added that recent rainfall has led to water accumulation, creating mosquito breeding spots in water coolers, flowerpots, and water containers in residential societies.

The NMC has urged citizens to take necessary measures to prevent the formation of mosquito breeding spots and advised them to keep their water storage areas dry once a week. The civic body has also warned residents of a Rs 200 fine for each breeding spot found on or around their premises. To combat the spread of dengue, the NMC has initiated steps including spraying, fogging, and creating awareness among residents about preventive measures.
