- Aspirants who took the class 10+2 exam in 2022 or earlier are not eligible.
- If the result for the academic year 2021-22 is declared on or after September 21, 2022, candidates from that board who took their 12th standard qualifying exam in 2022 will also be eligible for JEE Advanced 2024 if they meet the other eligibility criteria. However, if the result for a particular candidate was withheld despite the board declaring the results for the academic year 2020-2021 before September 21, 2021, the candidate will not be eligible for JEE Advanced 2024.
The following qualifying examinations are considered equivalent to 12th standard:

JEE Advanced Eligibility Marks in 12th Standard
For admissions into IITs, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced 2024. Additionally, aspirants can check the JEE advanced eligibility marks to determine the minimum marks required in the class 12 exam.
- The 12th percentage required for JEE Advanced exam is 75% for General and OBC candidates. For SC/ST candidates, the JEE Advanced eligibility 12th percentage is 65%.
- Candidates must be within the top 20 category percentile of the qualifying examination.
- When calculating aggregate marks, candidates should consider scores in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Language, and any one other subject.
Process of Total Marks Calculation for 12th (or equivalent) Examination
- If the marks given in a subject are not out of 100, they will be scaled (up or down) to 100 so that the total aggregate marks become out of 500.
- If a Board only awards letter grades without providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the candidate must obtain a certificate from the Board specifying the equivalent marks and submit it when accepting the allocated seat. Failure to provide the certificate will result in the final decision being made by the Joint Implementation Committee.
- If any of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Language are not evaluated in the final year, the marks from the previous year/s will be used to calculate the aggregate marks.
- Candidates who appeared in the 12th standard (or equivalent) board examination for the first time in 2023 and reappeared in all subjects in 2024 will have their best performance considered.
- If a Board considers both 11th and 12th standard examinations for aggregate marks, only the 12th standard marks will be considered. If a Board considers the results of all three years of a 3-year diploma or equivalent courses, only the marks from the final year will be considered. Similarly, for Boards following a semester system, the marks from the final two semesters will be considered.
- If a Board does not provide marks for individual subjects but only gives aggregate marks, the aggregate marks given by the Board will be considered.
JEE Advanced 2024 Eligibility for Foreign Students
The application process for JEE Advanced 2024 is open to all Indian citizens. Additionally, international candidates, who make up less than 10% of the SNQ, are also eligible. Candidates must have completed their Class 12 exams during the academic year 2024-2025.
Factors that determine the cut off of JEE Advanced
Various factors determine the cut off of JEE Advanced, including previous year’s cutoff trends, the total number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, candidates’ performance in JEE Advanced 2023, and the number of available seats for admission.
Eligibility Criteria for Cutoff of JEE Advanced 2024
The category-wise cutoff marks of JEE Advanced for the top 20 percentile are calculated based on the marks scored by candidates who pass their respective boards in the particular year. The cutoff marks for PwD candidates will be the same as the lowest cutoff marks for other categories. The top 20 percentile cutoff for the academic year 2024 will be considered for candidates who passed the 12th standard (or equivalent) examination in the same year. Similarly, the cutoff of 2023 will be taken for candidates who qualified the exam in the academic year 2023. Candidates who appeared for the qualifying exam for the first time in 2023 and wish to reappear in 2024 to qualify for the top 20 percentile cutoff will have to retake all subjects. The top 20 percentile cutoff of 2023 will be considered for such candidates. If a Board does not provide information about the top 20 percentile cutoff, candidates will need to produce a certificate from the respective board stating that they fall within the top 20 percentile of successful candidates.
